We use words and symbols to communicate, share information and affect or manage relationships and interactions. Communication has been viewed as both a message ‘process’ and an ‘act.’  So, when we communicate, we transmit ideas and we also create a means for interaction. Communication, therefore, has the capacity to be strategic, creating certain meanings through specific interactions.

Well intentioned communication can help engage local people and can lead to effective collaborative efforts to support different types of community development.
